Just what we don't need! I am so glad that we raise our own meat! But I sure feel sorry for the people that send out their beef to places that don't know how to keep things clean and give them a bad rap!

You and me both Lisa!! I've been with the same butcher for 10 years. I did my homework and visited several before choosing one. You just cannot be too careful.

Have a good week :)

The title says it all. I did have a family member that cut meat and they quit so I need to find me a new butcher. The search begins.

I hate it when we are out of home raised meat as we are right now. I shudder every time I pick something up from the meat case. It was NOT like this when I was growing up and every neighborhood...not every town, every neighborhood.... had a small butcher shop where you could purchase locally raised meats. There was one two blocks from my grandma's and what amazing products they produced. None of which ever needed to be recalled for anything.

I am not a big red meat eater but I love chicken and the more I read and see, the more I realize I HAVE to raise my own starting this spring!

That is why we RAISE OUR OWN! And we are very careful on who handles the rest of the processes.

I think raising your own or PERSONALLY knowing the folks who raise your beef(and SEEING the farm) is the best answer. And I emphasize personally knowing because there is a place near me that raises "local beef". Sounds wholesome, doesn't it? Well, I drive past the place every day. The cows are confined to the same pasture their entire life-it is nothing but manure, and they get their water from a low part of the pasture that holds all the runoff. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are literally drinking their own S@#$!
And people brag they buy local beef. The conditions are no better than one of those huge feed lots. I sure hope I can get to the point of raising my own!
