Excercising your right........

As our country continues to change, and not always for the better in my very personal opinion, one thing they haven't taken away from us (yet) is our right to vote.

It seems Maine always has a *HOT* topic. Imagine what our state could do with all the money that both sides of the campaign have spent in the last year. Holy smokes folks - that amounts to a whole lots of cash that could do a lot more good in our state that the constant bickering it's caused. I just wonder if it's all worth it in the end.

Anyhow, I'd much rather be here ...

than standing in line with throngs of people but there I will be. Simply because it's my right.

~Have a great day everyone ~

I am usually lucky enough that when I go to vote the lines are really small! You I defiantly agree with you! I can't imagine the money they spend on campaigns, it is just outragous!

Mike and I both came from families that strongly believed you should keep up with the issues and vote. In NC we have "early voting" too and that helps to shorten the lines on election day.

They can't take away our rights but they are trying. They are too many people that don't exercise their rights. They just set at home and keep their opinions to themselves. I do this alot myself and It's time for me to stand up and be heard.

I agree...we aren't headed in a very good direction. I wonder when bad will be bad enough and it can start getting good again?

How I miss the days of standing in line and voting! Now we have mail-in ballots. I smell a rat!! I noticed one time at a friends house that the envelopes for their ballots had a different color stripe. Hmmmm, they belong to a different politcal party too...I wonder why those envelopes are color coded??

I'm glad to know there are still places where you can physically see your ballot go into the box.

henbogle,
Thanks for your comment. Glad to have you here.

lisa,
we live in a very small town and the lines are never really long except when everyone gets out of work :)

joanna,
we have early voting as well. That really helps alot of folks.

threecollie,
Thanks :)

deb,
I think they will try but I do think the American people will put up enough resistance and it will not happen.

Adkins family farm,
It's one thing that's very important to me. I have always felt I didn't have the right to complain if I didn't get of my butt and get out and vote :)

gayle,
I hope it's soon.

nita,
my oldest son went with me to vote today. In our small town you actually put your ballot in the box :)
He remarked as we were driving home that he wished we marked out ballots with pen instead of pencil. He's 28. It made me sad but I can understand why he feels that way.

On a happy note I hate to brag for a minute:

My Mom was 70 last thursday. Today she registered to vote and voted for the very first time in her life. I am so darn proud of her!!!! It's never, never to late to do your part.

How did your election turn out? I'm hoping that we are starting to see better days coming. And, like you, I voted!!!!
