~Proud Parents ~

We had our first big snowstorm last night. 8 - 12 inches of beautiful, fluffy white stuff. Sorry - no farm photos. Spent most of the day blowing snow with the tractor while everyone else shoveled. We are expecting our first nor'easter tomorrow evening. They are predicting 18 to 24 inches! We are as prepared as we can be and I'm even a little excited.. I know, I'm somewhat of a sick person when it comes to winter :)

Between winter clean up this morning, Tyler had his advancement test to blue belt in Karate. He passed with flying colors......We are so proud of him, as always. The best part is he is very proud of himself and his accomplishments. A little over a year and he has advanced four degrees in his Karate.

Chores are done for the day. I made a big pot of fish chowder and friends are joining us for dinner. I'm looking forward to a relaxing evening.

I have to admit I don't share your love of snow.:)

and it's great for a kids confindence, that's wonderful. I'd like to shave off 40 years and *^ pounds and take up karate.

Stay warm!

Do you do a lot of canning to be in preparation for your rough winters?

I love big storms and winter, too. I find that snow has all the excitement and adversity to it that I enjoy. I miss it very much where we live now, and I know not to expect too much snow when I move to Winnipeg--but I look forward to more than we've got now!

My favorite part of this season is bundling up and taking a walk/doing something out doors and thinking "hey, I'm warm! Good layers!" or "Hey, it's dang cold out here!" We're expecting a low of 8F tonight...so at least I get a bit of the colder temps in KY. Enjoy your big storm!

The biggest snow I have ever saw was 6 inches(one time). That was when we lived in North Georgia.
I can't imagine 24 inches! But I do imagine it is beautiful.

Congratulations to Tyler! A blue belt is a great accomplishment.

threecollie,
thank you.....it's such a joy to watch my kids grow and learn.

christy,
thank you.....I hope it doesn't snow where you are - I don't think it does in GA very often :)

nita,
thank you - he's feeling pretty good about himself :)

joanna,
I thought about taking lessons with him until a gal came out of class with a broken foot from sparring - how could I do all these chores with only one good foot? I thought better of it!

I do can and freeze and try to store up as much as I can for winter. We are enjoying fresh, canned peaches right now. Yum!

joanne,
we did get that huge storm and like you, I really enjoyed getting my winter gear on last night and trudging through the snow, heading out for chores. All the animals were in the barn, snug and warm. It was a nice place to be. 8 degrees is darn cold in KY! Stay warm!

Ruth,
It's very nice to meet you and thanks so much for visiting. See you again soon.

pam,
I imagine 6 inches in GA is quite a snow storm. I remember 3 inches when I lived in NC was a big storm :) 18 inches is a lot of snow to move but your right, it is beautiful - so pristine and fresh. Nothing like it in my book.
I'll give your congrats to Tyler - thank you :)
