~Weaving, weather, companions,etc.

As they say here in Maine - " 'nuther storm comin' ". We aren't thrilled but we are ready and complaining doesn't do any good. The prediction as of noon was 10 to 14 inches of the wet, heavy kind. Not too bad.....If I don't post for a few days, it just means the power is out. Despite the added work and hassle it causes many, it really is a sight to behold on a sunny day.
I'm making progress on my new woven shawl. I am using this gray wool yarn from our sheep, Freida, for the warp. I overdyed three skeins of this gray searching for a rich, burgandy color. I used a dye called crimson and was very happy with the results. It is exactly what I was looking for. I think these two colors look wonderful together and will make a beautiful shawl.

The photo below is my warping board. For those that don't know, this is where I wind on the yarn in a specific pattern for whatever project I'm going to weave. I wound on the first course of gray yesterday. The burgandy is dry today so I can wind on the rest.

This is my rigid heddle loom. I dusted all the cobwebs off and it's already for the warp. I'm so excited to get started. The actual weaving is so enjoyable and I've placed the loom in front of my dining room windows, facing the barn, pastures and my Mom's house. I can observe the guineas as they go about their day as well. A lovely, sunny place to work.

As always, my constant companion and best buddy is by my side, making sure all is well and catching a few winks. Life just wouldn't be good without my Banjo.

Have a great sunday and stay safe and warm.

The yarn is beautiful. Please post as you work on it. I have two companions like yours, same color. Aren't they wonderful?
